LED REAR COMBINATION LIGHTS

The slim rear of the BURGMAN 400 features independent LED rear combination lights with the turn signals at their tips. It’s a sharply sculpted design that expresses elegance and agility.

The slim, elegant styling of the nose features sharply styled dual LED headlights with integrated LED position lights and turn signals mounted beneath. The overall effect creates a cleaner and lighter looking front end that is instantly recognizable as belonging to the BURGMAN family.

MULTI-FUNCTION INSTRUMENTATION

Large, easy-to-read analogue speedometer and tachometer dials flank a digital display that shows an odometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge, coolant temperature indicator, average fuel consumption meter, ambient temperature indicator, freeze indicator*1 and clock. Also included is Suzuki’s Eco Drive Indicator, which come on when the vehicle is operated in a fuel-efficient manner and may help riders learn techniques to better economize on fuel*2.

SIT IN THE LAP OF LUXURY

The stepped dual seat offers luxurious comfort for rider and passenger alike by combining a cushion that is 20mm thicker and a shape that is slimmer than on the current model. Double stitching adds a distinctively fashionable accent.

RIDER BACKREST

The rider’s backrest can be adjusted 15mm or 30mm forward to provide optimal support and comfort for riders of various builds on longer outings.

RICH UNDERSEAT STORAGE SPACE

The BURGMAN 400’s spacious 50-litre underseat storage:

FUEL INJECTED, LIQUID-COOLED ENGINE

At the heart of the BURGMAN 400’s polished performance is an updated version of its powerful 400cm 3 four-stroke, DOHC, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. Changes including the air cleaner box help produce greater low-to-midrange torque for instant response and more powerful acceleration when riding in stop-and-go traffic while also providing more robust performance when riding tandem. Suzuki’s Automatic Idle Speed Control (ISC) continues to ensure optimal idling.

POWERFUL BRAKING SYSTEM

The BURGMAN 400 is equipped with a powerful braking system worthy of a sporty scooter. The front wheel carries a pair of 260mm disc brakes, while stopping power in the rear is provided by a 210mm disc brake. An Antilock Brake System (ABS)* monitors wheel speed and matches stopping power to available traction to provide greater confidence and control. The system adopts a compact and lightweight ABS control unit that reduces weight by approximately 750g over the previous model.

IRIDIUM SPARK PLUG

The engine employs an iridium spark plug that contributes to higher combustion efficiency, greater power output, more linear throttle response and easier engine starts.

LARGER 15-INCH FRONT WHEEL

The BURGMAN 400 replaces the 14-inch wheel of its predecessor and introduces a larger 15-inch wheel in the front. The change brings a bold image with it and a look of stability that can instill greater confidence in the rider.

LUXURIOUS RIDE AND HANDLING

The BURGMAN 400’s underbone frame is built from large-diameter, thin-wall tubes that deliver the lightweight and rigidity required for great handling. Complementing this frame in realizing a stable, relaxing and nimble ride are 41mm front forks with a generous 110mm of wheel travel. In addition, the link-type mono-shock rear suspension with 7-way adjustable spring preload helps maximise the balance between comfort and sporty performance by providing a softer ride on relatively smooth roads and solid traction on cobblestone streets. Exceptional handling and maneuverability are the results.

UPSWEPT WINDSCREEN

The BURGMAN 400’s upswept windscreen creates a cleaner, more compact look from the front or sides. At the same time, it matches its predecessor in delivering optimum wind protection for rider comfort, as well as a clear view of the road.

TRACTION CONTROL

Newly featured traction control gives the rider added peace of mind on slippery surfaces like cobblestone streets.

DUAL SPARK TECHNOLOGY

Suzuki Dual Spark Technology adds another spark plug and a highly atomized injector to achieve significant combustion improvement, providing linear power delivery while meeting strict emission standards and offering good fuel economy.

EASY START

Suzuki Easy Start System introduced to make engine startup simple, requiring only a single quick push of the starter switch with the brake applied.

SDTV - Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve System

Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital fuel-injection system. In SDTV induction system, each throttle body barrel has two butterfly valves, a primary valve controlled by the twist grip and a secondary valve controlled by the ECM based on engine rpm, gear selection and the position of the primary valve. The secondary butterfly valve opens and closes to maintain ideal intake air velocity, improving high combustion efficiency, thus resulting in a linear throttle response, increased low-to-mid range torque.

SCEM - Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material

Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) is Suzuki’s own nickel-silicon-carbide coating technique derived from racetrack experience. SCEM cylinders allow faster heat transfer and tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance, for superb durability and resistance to scuffing.

ABS - Anti-Lock Braking System

An electrically controlled Antilock Brake System (ABS) that produces stable braking force under various road surface conditions. The system helps avoid wheel locking when there is a sudden change in road surface during braking or when an excessive braking force is applied. The system monitors wheel speed 50 times per wheel rotation and matches stopping power to available traction. * Depending on road surface conditions, such as wet, loose, or uneven roads, braking distance for an ABS equipped vehicle may be longer than for a vehicle not equipped with ABS. ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering. Please drive carefully and do not overly rely on ABS.

Easy Start System

On a normal motorcycle when starting the engine, the rider needs to press and hold the starter switch until the engine fires up. With the Suzuki Easy Start, all you need to do is one quick push of the starter switch, just like starting a modern car engine. The ECM recognizes the signals and keeps the starter motor working for a specified time.
