OWN THE RACETRACKIt wasn’t by accident that the original GSX-R750 redefined the high-performance Supersport and shocked the motorcycle world when it was introduced in 1985. It was a product of integrated design, a talented group of Suzuki chassis, engine and electrical engineers making history by working together to build a more compact and lighter 750cm³ Supersport. With an unmatched combination of excellent throttle response, linear power delivery, strong braking, confident handling and class-leading power-to-weight ratio, it was the closest a mass-production four-stroke, four-cylinder street bike had ever come to being a race bike with lights. |
SUZUKI PROTECTION PLANSuzuki Protection Plan is a comprehensive plan that covers all mechanical, electrical and computer systems on your Suzuki Motorcycle or ATV. Ask your local Authorized Dealer about Suzuki Protection Plan for extra peace of mind. |
EFFICIENCY BY DESIGNCombustion efficiency is a measure of how completely an engine burns its fuel. Better combustion efficiency can increase power and torque output across the rpm range; improve throttle response, acceleration and fuel mileage; and reduce emissions. Mechanical efficiency is a measure of how much of the power and torque produced by an engine actually reaches the rear wheel. Reducing mechanical losses by minimizing internal engine friction, reducing the weight of reciprocating internal parts and relieving crankcase pressure can increase mechanical efficiency, putting more of an engine’s output to use actually moving and accelerating the motorcycle and also improving fuel mileage and reducing emissions. |
A LIGHTER, MORE COMPACT CHASSISThe GSX-R750 features a complete chassis design based on a more compact, lighter twin-spar aluminum frame with a 15 mm shorter wheelbase totaling 1,390 mm. The shorter wheelbase better centers the combined machine/rider mass between the wheels, improving racetrack cornering and also shortening the reach between the seat and the handlebars. The shorter reach and slightly wider handlebar angle make it easier for the rider to re-position their weight while on the racetrack and also improve comfort on longer highway rides. |
ENGINE DESIGNThe four-into-one stainless-steel exhaust system features four individual head pipes and a single collector. The mid-pipe located between the collector and the under-engine exhaust chamber carries a Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) servo-controlled butterfly valve to match exhaust system back-pressure to engine rpm, throttle position and gear position, maximizing torque and improving throttle response, especially in the low-to-mid rpm range. The exhaust chamber leads to stainless-steel S-bend pipe and a titanium muffler shaped and positioned to enhance cornering clearance and improve aerodynamics. A reduction in pipe wall thickness and a smaller, more efficient exhaust chamber and muffler combine to make the GSX-R750 system 1,100 grams lighter. A slightly larger-diameter radiator fan mounted on the efficient, trapezoidal, curved radiator turns on and off based on coolant temperature and improves cooling performance. |
SDTV - Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve SystemSuzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital fuel-injection system. In SDTV induction system, each throttle body barrel has two butterfly valves, a primary valve controlled by the twist grip and a secondary valve controlled by the ECM based on engine rpm, gear selection and the position of the primary valve. The secondary butterfly valve opens and closes to maintain ideal intake air velocity, improving high combustion efficiency, thus resulting in a linear throttle response, increased low-to-mid range torque. |
SCEM - Suzuki Composite Electrochemical MaterialSuzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) is Suzuki’s own nickel-silicon-carbide coating technique derived from racetrack experience. SCEM cylinders allow faster heat transfer and tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance, for superb durability and resistance to scuffing. |
SRAD - Suzuki Ram Air SystemThe Suzuki Ram Air-Direct (SRAD) air intakes are positioned close to the centreline of the fairing nose – the position offering optimum intake efficiency. This results in better intake efficiency, increasing engine power in high speed. * The technology is used in GSX-R1000, 750, 600 and Hayabusa. |
SCAS - Suzuki Clutch Assist SystemSuzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) - a back-torque-limiting clutch helps make downshifts smoother, assists the rider in taking control in deceleration. Ramped engagement cams built into the clutch hub decrease force on the clutch plates under deceleration by pushing up against the pressure plate, allowing the plates to slip at a controlled rate. |
SDMS - Suzuki Drive Mode SelectorSuzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) system allows the rider to select one of three fuel injection and ignition system maps (2 maps in the case of GSX-R750/600), adjusting power delivery to suit personal preference in various riding situations, such as different racetracks or tight, twisty roads. Selecting and switching between mode settings is by a switch on the handlebar; the selected mode setting is displayed on the tachometer. The feature helps the rider to enjoy the performance in a wider range of riding situations. * The technology is used in GSX-R1000, 750, 600, DL1050 and Hayabusa. |
SET - Suzuki Exhaust TuningSuzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system, which uses a servo-controlled butterfly valve to modify back pressure and tune the pipe to match engine rpm. At lower rpm, the valve closes, increasing back pressure and improving low-end torque. The valve progressively opens as engine speed increases, reducing back pressure and increasing mid-range and high-rpm power. |
